Attention BSBA Dance Quest Parents!!!

We are so excited as we are approaching the final weeks of class leading up to the 2012 Dance Quest Recital!! There is quite a bit of information circulating and being sent home so PLEASE do not hesitate to ask questions!!

Since BSBA’s last week of school is the end of May, classes will continue and be held at the STUDIO LOCATION at the following times:

Preschool Pre-Ballet 1: Tuesday 5/29, 6/5, 6/12 @ 9:30-10:15am

Preschool Jazz: Tuesday 5/29, 6/5,6/12 @ 11:00-11:45am

Preschool Pre-Ballet 2: Wednesday 5/30, 6/6,6/13 @ 10:15-11:00am

Boys and Girls Hip Hop: Tuesday 5/29, 6/5, 6/12 @ 2:00-2:45pm

ALL CLASSES MUST ATTEND THE DRESS REHEARSAL ON THURSDAY JUNE 14TH @ RIVERVIEW HIGH SCHOOL (for specific times check out the dress rehearsal post)

It is IMPERATIVE that your child has these additional weeks of rehearsal to be fully prepared and confident for a great recital experience! We know it is a sacrifice for you to adjust your schedule to get your dance to practice and we thank you so much!  Having the larger floor space and mirrors will also help get your dancer ready for the big day!!

Due to circumstances beyond our control, dress rehearsal for the 2012 Dance Quest Recital has been changed from Friday, June 15th to THURSDAY, June 14th.

Dance Quest is at the mercy of Hillsborough County Schools and since Riverview High School is our chosen venue and the County has made the decision to close down on our scheduled rehearsal date, we must oblige.

We are sympathetic with regard to the strain this may put on working parents’ schedules, but please understand that a DRESS REHEARSAL IS IMPERATIVE for students to be familiarized with a new environment so that they may enjoy a successful and memorable experience.  We are believing and expecting that this will be a blessing in disguise.  We are sure that having Friday off after a long day of rehearsal will be good rest before the BIG DAY!

We thank you for being understanding, gracious, and flexible!

Dance Quest International is a full service dance company which offers instruction in Ballet, Tap, Lyrical, Jazz Theatrical Dance, Hip Hop and Boys-Only Hip Hop.

It is unique in that it is not just about dance. “Each child is genuinely loved as an individual. We strive to build self-esteem and confidence,” said Virginia Jones. Owner, Mary Beth Maynard added, “We want to reclaim dance back for the Lord. When you dance for God, there’s nothing like it. Walls come down when people see performances. I want to pour this into our students and teach them that it is not about the spotlight on them. Rather it is about shining the light on people’s lives and showing them that God loves them.”

This teaching was evident at the recent performance at Hawthorne Village in Brandon. Students in the camp called, Project Dance Camp, worked hard to prepare a performance for the residents of Hawthorne, but they also incorporated a school supply drive for Kids Charity of Tampa Bay. For the residents at Hawthorne, each child made a frame, flower pots and each flower was dedicated with a love note.

Crystal Riley of Riverview whose daughter, Katie King, was among the performers said, “As a parent, it is clear to me that it is not just about learning dance. The children learn about Christ and outreach in the community.”

For many years, the teachers of Dance Quest International taught dance in area schools as an after school program. Now, Mary Beth and Rob Maynard are proud to open their own studio located at 307 S. Parsons Ave. in Brandon.

Dance Quest International offers programs at schools such as Bell Shoals Baptist Academy, Central Baptist Christian School and The Peacock’s Plume. With the new studio, they can now offer an expanded schedule. Dance Quest International plans to offer events such as “Parents’ Night Out” each month.
